There are also many other very famous beaches in the area, such as one of the most beautiful Praia da Marinha or Praia de Benagil famous for the sea cave of the same name Benagil. These hidden coves and rock formations are ideal for exploration, as well as diving and snorkeling.

Algar Seco
While in Carvoeiro, you also can’t miss a walk along the cliffs to Algar Seco.
Algar Seco is a group of fascinating rock formations. Erosion here has created rock pools, caves and windows and balconies over the sea. Algar Seco resembles a lunar landscape and is one of the Algarve’s major natural monuments. Here you will find limestone cliffs filled with fossils of marine life from 24 million years ago. A wooden boardwalk runs along the cliffs, which will take you to the right places.
Be sure to enter the cave called “A Boneca” (“The Doll”). It is said to have been given this name because it is located inside a peak that once resembled a doll. Inside the cave there are two openings – windows overlooking the ocean, which are a dawn for photos.
Only a few people can be inside at a time. There are days when people line up outside, waiting their turn to go inside and take pictures.
There is a restaurant next to the cave, where you can take a coffee break during the season. The restaurant is closed outside the tourist season.
Sete Vales Suspensos walking trail
Hiking along the coast is also worthwhile, taking in spectacular views from the cliffs. One popular trail is the Sete Vales Suspensos, which leads through seven hanging valleys, offering breathtaking panoramas. You can read more about this trail here >>.

Culinary Experiences
Local cuisine is not to be missed during a stay in Carvoeiro. Restaurants serve fresh seafood such as grilled sardines, mussels and octopus.
